October 11, 2022

Indian proudly carries the title of America’s first motorcycle company with a 121-year-long history. However, it is the last decades that truly reflect Indian’s rise to prominence, which is mostly due to the influx of funds from Polaris.

In this article, you shall get to explore the most popular vintage Indian motorcycles that everyone can’t wait to get their hands on.

The Indian Pursuit

The Indian Motorcycle Pursuit comes with an aluminum cast frame and has a liquid-cooled power of 1768cc. This is in addition to the V-Twin mated that has a 6-speed transmission and an assist clutch.

The Horsepower is 122, which is big for the motor but perfect for the 3800 rpm speed the motorcycle can achieve.

This machine is rock-solid and stable on the road as the chassis mounted on it is electronically adjustable with inverted front forks.

This bike also comes with 35 gallons of locking storage that electronically adjusts the windshields and heated seats.

It is a cutting-edge technological device that forms voice commands with a 7-inch cruise control infotainment, and full LED lighting.

The Indian Scout Rogue

This bike is the toughest member of the Scout family. The bike’s features include many ape handlebars, a quarter fairing, and a sport-style single seat.

Instead of the usual 16-inch front wheel, the Rogue gets a 19-inch rim.

The rear wheel is unchanged, but both come wrapped in new Metzeler cruisetec tires. The suspension can be enhanced with adjustable piggyback rear shocks.

Like other Scouts, the newcomer is propelled by a 1133cc liquid-cooled V-Twin engine paired to the 6-speed wet-clutch transmission.

The Jon Bernthal’s Indian Chief Custom

This motorbike was inspired by Motocross racing and it is in fact a one-of-a-kind machine that was created by Carey Hart for specific use by Jon Bernthal, the ‘Walking Dead’ actor. It fit him like a glove with all the aesthetics, ergonomics, and performance designed for him.

It comes with a sportier riding position and new crossbar clamps, grips, and ODI bars. It also has custom-made shift-brake pads. It is the new Saddlemen of machines with mirrors, seats, front indicator lights, and brake lights from Rizoma.

It is enhanced with piggyback fox shocks, Behringer brakes, and GP suspension. Its engine breathes more freely and has a stainless-steel exhaust.

Indian FTR

The Indian FTR aims to move the lineup towards the naked class of Sporty Street. All the trims are made of 17-inch cast-aluminum iron wheels and Metzeler Sportec tires.

The seat height is lowered to 32 inches, and the suspension is now fully adjustable with 4.7 inches of travel. The 1203cc V-Twin still makes 120 horsepower and 87lb/ft of torque, but it was returned so they could work on the cold starts and deliver a smoother riding experience.

The Indian FTR and the FTR rally keep the analog gauges, while the FTR S and FTR R Carbon come with a programmable digital LCD gauge display.

Indian has come a long way with its motorcycles, and every year they continue to improve them while keeping the original vintage look and feel. Perhaps this is what has kept America hooked to this motorcycle dealership for 121 years.
