Here’s Why You Should Invest in A Vintage Motorcycle
October 2, 2022

All motorcycles are cool, whether big or small, pretty or ugly, fast or slow. They’re all cool. This is the main reason why people get motorcycles. While everyone has different opinions on what ‘cool’ really means, one thing stands out: Most riders will not buy an old bike.

However, before you make up your mind, check out why you should consider buying a vintage motorcycle.

They are Fast

Surprisingly, many vintage motorcycles are quite a bit lighter than their modern counterparts, even though they’re made of very little plastic. You would think that an older Triumph Bonneville would be significantly slower and heavier than a modern Bonneville.

However, if you compare these two models’ power: weight ratio, the older Triumph Bonneville is slightly faster than the modern Bonneville. Furthermore, the older Triumph Bonneville weighed 380 pounds, which is 140 pounds less than the modern Bonneville.

More Variety to Choose From

With vintage bikes, you have more choices, variety, and options. If you’re only buying a new bike, and you’re comparing that to authentic vintage, then you have way more options if you go with the vintage bike.

You can choose from the style and feel of bikes from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. There are so many different brands and countries to choose from. For instance, you can choose bikes from Italy, Britain and Germany, among other countries.

By choosing the vintage bikes, you’re opening yourself up to decades and decades of different brands and models.

Better Styling

This reason is subjective among people due to rapidly changing tastes. For instance, today, you might find a Triumph Street Triple attractive, but in a month, you might start liking the look of a full-on sports bike.

Nevertheless, it’s hard to deny that vintage motorcycles look better. The feel of the vintage bikes is more authentic and hand-made compared to modern motorcycles. Maybe this is why vintage bikes turn heads everywhere you ride them.

Motorcycles are all about being cool, and getting a vintage bike will definitely put you in the cool club.

They are Simple

Vintage motorcycles are way simpler in terms of their manufacturing. Therefore, you could take a stab at working on them. You can do things to modern bikes too, but you can’t really get in there and start wrenching on a modern bike, or at least you shouldn’t – for warranty purposes.

Modern bikes have too much computer technology going on. However, with vintage bikes, it’s just so simple. If you have a problem, it’s probably the carburetor or maybe the timing, among a few other things.

Whatever the problem, it’s almost always going to be something you can fix – with the right manual.

They say old is gold, and this is true to some extent. Vintage machines get pricier and more valuable the more substandard goods are produced. On the more social side, riding an old machine that hasn’t been seen around for 50 years makes you feel unique.

So, are you ready to join the cool club yet?
